"My heart goes out to family and friends of Paul Crowley who died this morning at his home in Newport. Paul was the epitome of an old fashion Irish Catholic politician who loved serving his constituents and loved his home, the City by the Sea. He was a voice for the voiceless and a tireless champion for the children."

"For nearly 27 years, he lent his wisdom and expertise on an array of issues facing our state, but he led the way when it came to education and strengthening our schools. He was such a man of integrity. When Paul spoke, he spoke the truth. He was the real deal. I will miss my friend, as will all who knew him will."
