AOH Scholarship Fundraiser

A night of entertainment was held on April 30th at the Hall to support the AOH 2010 Scholarship Fund. Tickets were $20. Entertainment consisted of: Tim May & Tony Gutierrez, Charlie Meehan & Scott Krous, The Bad Lieutenants [Bob Sullivan, Harry Hallgring, Jim Fletcher, and Brian Gallagher].

  • Saturday, November 8th Whiskey & Cigar Dinner
    Presented by the AOH Pipes and Drums at 6 p.m. at the Hall. Tickets, which are $50 per person, may be purchased at the hall. Click here for more details
  • October 3rd 2008 - The 5th Annual Thomas 'Fox' Donnelly Golf Tournament
    Final arrangements are being made for this year's golf outing which will be held at the Newport National Golf Course.
    Tee time is 12:00. The entrance fee for the tournament is $120 per player and includes 18 holes at Newport National Golf Club with a cart and gift bag followed by a Pub-style dinner and raffle prizes at the Hibernian Hall.
    Your support is needed, and greatly appreciated, to make this event a success.

  • August 23rd - AOH Steak Nite at the hall - click here for details!
  • Brother Kevin Sullivan presents - Sunday concerts at King Park Gazebo, Wellington Avenue. The concerts are free and run Sundays from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, the end of June past Labor Day weekend. www.nimfest.com.< -- click for more information.
  • August 2nd - We will honor our 25 year members, life members, and Past Presidents with a celebration at the Hall.
  • July 23rd thru July 28 - AOH 2008 Convention New Orleans
  • July 19th - Brother Dennis Reddy has acquired 50 tickets to the Polo Matches at Glen Farm in Portsmouth. They are available at the hall on a first come, first served basis.
  • July 4th - AOH Pipes & Drums will be performing for the Bristol 4th of July parade.
  • June 28th - Roast for Joe Brady. A roast for Joe Brady’s election fundraising is going to be held on Saturday at the AOH from 6 to ?. The cost per ticket is $25. There will be a special “Open bar” from 6-7 and “Heavy Hors d'oeuvres” by Alan. There will be an opportunity to Roast Joe and tell him what we really think of him. [Hmmmm!] - Tickets will be available at the Hall.
  • June 27th - A.O.H. Newport Golf Tournament A benefit for Joe Brady's reelection - 1 pm at the Jamestown Country Club,
    followed by a dinner by Chef Brother Alan Tkachuk.
  • June 21st - Museum of Newport Irish History Steak Nite at 6pm at the hall. Tickets $25.00/per. Tickets are available at the Hall or by contacting Brother Skip Carter at 683-4137.
  • June 8th - A.O.H. Warwick Division 1 Annual Golf Tournament click here for details.
  • February 2nd, 11am, URI vs. #14 ranked Dayton at the Ryan Center on the URI campus. $40.00 cost includes reception at the Hall before and after the game, pre-game reception at the University Club with special guest speakers, loge box seats, and bus transportation. Sign up and tickets at the Hall.
  • February 2nd, Mass & Irish Step Dance Ceili
    • A feast of St. Brigid Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Feb. 2, at 5 p.m. at St. Augustin's Church on Carroll Avenue. An Irish Ceili will be celebrated at Hibernian Hall on Wellington Avenue at 6:30 p.m. following the Mass.
    • Traditional Irish dance instruction will be provided by Donel and Mary Lehane and the Nevin Irish Dancers.
    • Boarding House Ranch will provide live entertainment.
    • Finger foods and soft drinks will be served. A cash bar will be available.
    • Tickets cost $10 and proceeds will benefit Lady Hibernian Charities. For more information, call 846-1743.
  • Saturday, March 1st, Irish History Bus Tour & 40 Steps Dancing and Music, with pub lunch to follow at the Hall. Bus leaves at 10am from the Hall.
  • Sunday, March 2nd, Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast, 9am-12pm at the Hall, followed by the Ist Annual AOH Marketplace, with Irish music provided by Shanachie.
  • March 8th, Providence St. Patrick's Parade
  • AOH Memorial Mass, March 9th, 11am, St. Mary's Church. This year the full Pipes & Drums Band will be leading the way.
  • March 13th - The Hibernian/Civitas Awards Banquet will be held at 6pm at the Hall.
  • March 15th - 52nd St. Patrick's Day Parade 11:00am Newport, RI
  • March 16th, South Boston, MA (first time), both with our very own Pipes & Drums Band.
  • Ladies' AOH Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner, March 29th, details to follow.
  • April 19th - Shamrock Ball

  • December 16th - The LAOH Christmas Children's Party@ 3:45 p.m.

    Parents should (discretely) bring a wrapped present of nominal value for each child, name clearly marked (first and last). Santa will arrive on a Fire Truck at 4:15 p.m. $5 donation per family is welcome as are desserts. Thank you. Contact: Lesley Pratt 841-9859 or lesleypratt1@cox.net

  • December 8th - Christmas Mass at the Hall @ 5:00 pm.
    (arrive early for seats). Reception to follow
  • November 17th - The RI Irish Famine Memorial Dedication
    • Saturday - 10am Mass, 12pm Dedication Ceremony at RiverWalk in Providence. The Pipe and Drum band will play and we will be taking a bus, with a sign up sheet at the Hall. (Our Division bought the 1st bench 9 years ago).
  • November 10th - The Scholarship Fund Benefit
    • Presented by the Shamrock Ball Committee at O'Brien's Pub from 6-8pm. Complimentary food, beer, and wine, with entertainment provided by the Pipe and Drum Band, $25.00 per person, tickets may be purchased at the Hall.
  • October 19th - 4Th Annual Thomas "Fox" Donnelly Golf Tournament
    • Time: 10am tee time
    • Place: Newport National
    • Cost: $110.00 per golfer
    • Steak Dinner and awards at AOH Hall
  • Cigar Night
    • hosted by Brother Bill Cardinal with a special appearance by former Red Sox great Luis Tiant, details TBA.
    • October 19th-21st - RI State Convention will be held at the Hall.
      • Friday night we will host an opening reception with Irish pub music.
      • Saturday afternoon we will have our business meeting and State Board elections.
      • Saturday night at 8pm when the renowned local RI Irish band 'The Garda' will perform some of their hits and all of our favorites.
      • Sunday everyone is invited down for Patriots football, food and fun.
    • October 8 - Columbus Day Parade
      • We have been invited to march in the parade again this year. Brothers who are interested sign up at the hall or send an email. The parade begins at noon. More information to follow.
    • Sept. 22 - Luau/Captain Morgan/Pirates of the Hibernian Night
      • The festivities will begin with 6pm cocktails, with special complimentary tropical concoctions, with a roasted pig (courtesy of Peter Behan and Stivy Van derVeer) and lobster. Price is $30.00 a ticket. Tickets are available by calling Event Coordinator Rob Lehane at 846-1743, or at the Hall.
    • August 26th - Steak Nite
      • Tickets are $20.00, with cocktails at 6pm, dinner at 7.
    • August 11th - Saturday Steakfry
      • Tickets are going fast-- if you want to get to the Saturday Steakfry -- tickets($15 ea) are at the AOH or call Brother Skip Carter @ 683-4137. Don't miss out! Steaks done to order by President Wick and PP Tim Burns -- baked pots and all the fixins by chef Alan --- what could be better!!
    • July 26th - AOH Shamrock Ball - Planning Meeting
      • There will be a full blown meeting for all AOH brothers who would like to participate in the planning for the AOH Shamrock Ball for the benefit of the AOH Scholarship Fund. This meeting will be held at the club at 6:30pm. All are welcome and we need to get started in the promotion and ticket selling aspect.

    • July 4th - Bristol Fourth of July parade
      • The AOH is looking for marchers for the Bristol Fourth of July parade. The Pipe and drum band is marching and we needs brothers to be banner carriers, marchers etc.
    • June 23 - Cleanup/Work Day at the Hall
      • Work should begin at about 9:00 am. We need painters,carpenters, helpers etc.
    • June 10th - Degree
      • the Degree begins at 1pm at the hall.
    • June 9th - The Newport International Film Festival
      • The Newport International Film Festival will be showing a documentary on the AOH Pipe and Drums beginning at 4pm at the Jane Pickens Theater. It will be shown during the Open Call segment, tickets need to be purchased at the film festival office which is located on Spring St. across from Coffey's gas station.
    • May 28th - Watertown, MA Memorial Day Parade
      • We will be marching with the AOH Pipe and Drum Band. There is a sign up sheet at the Hall, with marchers limited to 25. This will be the 4th or 5th year we’ve done this and I can tell you it is a fun day. Our brethren at the Watertown AOH treat us very well.
    • May 26th - Finnegan’s Wake party and Toasting Contest
      • Will be held this Saturday the 26th at 7pm. Admission is $10.00 at the door, and it will be pot luck.
    • May 24th - AOH Scholarship Fund
      • On Thursday May 24th, 7pm at Rogers High School, Division #1 will be awarding its first scholarships from the AOH Scholarship Fund. Eight great candidates from Rogers High School applied for three $500.00 scholarships (next year we will branch out to all schools on Aquidneck Island). After interviewing all eight candidates on Sunday afternoon we were in the unenvious position of having to choose three, which after much deliberation we did.

    Lunch at the Hall Don't forget lunches Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with Chef Alan. Bro. Jim Mahoney is collecting supplies to send to the servicemen and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. We have a few Brothers serving in the area and we would like to help them out, Jim is looking for either cash or supplies. Contact Jim or send an email if you can help.
