This website supports and is devoted to the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Dennis Collins Division 1, located in Newport, RI.

 

We welcome all who are interested in Irish Catholic culture and heritage. We invite all Catholics of Irish birth or descent to seek membership to the finest Irish Catholic Organization in the World

We would ask that of you embrace our motto of: “Friendship, Unity, and Christian Charity”.

While practicing friendship, Unity and Christian charity, we will work to strengthen and defend our Roman Catholic faith, our loyalty to our country, and our communities; and perpetuate the religion, history, culture and traditions of our Irish heritage.

The Dennis E. Collin Division of the AOH stands among the largest AOH divisions in the nation. True to its motto, it supports countless charitable organizations, hosts family and community gatherings, supports brothers in need, establishes scholarships, and promotes Irish heritage—not for nostalgia’s sake, but to remind us that faith, culture, and charity belong together.

  • MONTHLY MEETING 

    • The February monthly meeting will be help on Friday February 6th.

    • All members are encouraged to attend regularly scheduled monthly meetings.   Come down early and have dinner available from 4:30 to 6:30 PM and again after the meeting.

    • Please bring non-perishable food item, they will be donated to local food banks.

2026 DUES- ARE NOW DUE

We are collecting membership dues for 2026. The annual membership fee is $120.

On ​behalf the board, we sincerely do not want to see a Brother’s membership in jeopardy. If you have fallen on hard times and have fallen behind on your annual dues payments, we ask that you please contact a board member to assist you in maintaining your membership. The email address is: aohfinancialsecretarynewportri@gmail.com The requirements for becoming a designated Life Member are 20 consecutive years of membership in good standing, being at least 65 years old and having made your Major Degree. ​

AOH NEWPORT PIPES & DRUMS

The Ancient Order of Hibernians, Dennis E Collins Division 1 Scholarship Program.

Scholarship applications are reviewed and awarded each year by the AOH Scholarship Committee to students that meet the eligibility requirements.

They include: 

  • Students must be of Irish birth or descent,

  • Students must be able to demonstrate excellence in their high school and community life,

  • Student has a qualifying financial need,

  • Students who plan on or who plan on entering their first year of an accredited  college, university or trade school.

  • Be children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces or nephews of a member in good standing of the AOH Dennis Collins Division 1, in Newport, RI. 

  • All applications must be submitted by   March 31st so that selected students can receive their scholarships in time for the high school May awards ceremony. 

AOH DIVISION SCHOLARSHIPS

The AOH Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that our division's 2025 scholarships have been awarded to: Aaron Amoruso, Cailin Callaghan, Hanna Hanson, Candence O’Leary, Nicholas Phelan, Drew Carney, Allison Ceglarski, Grace Rochelle, Pat Cranson and Angel Gonzalez.

AOH PIIPES & DRUMS 

 The AOH Newport Pipe and Drums Band is seeking to expand its membership. We welcome all individuals interested in promoting the performance of  traditional Irish bagpipe music.

 

  Those interested  should contact Michael O’Conner or attend one of our band practice sessions; held at   Hibernian Hall on Tuesday evenings. Our practices start at 7:00 pm. The Band offers musical instruction.  No musical experience is necessary just a willingness to learn.
